Organization is essential in businesses. If you were ever audited or needed to conduct an internal audit to adjust budgets and analyze money expenditures, you understand how important it is to find what you’re looking for when you’re looking for it. Time is money and the more time you save, the more money you save as well. Here are some tips for implementing a file management system for your business.

Organize Files Online

The easiest way to keep track of paperwork is to keep it all on computers. There are many advantages to having an online file system including the following:

Access: By having the filing system online, you no longer need to go to someone’s office to look up the information you need. By using file permissions, you can also choose who can see the files and who can’t.

Protection: If there were ever a fire at your office, you would lose all your files, but with an online filing system that is off-site, you don’t have to worry. Many services that provide this have redundancy services built in. Therefore, your file backups are located in two places just in case something happens at one site.

Online Fax Services: Along with this idea, it’s smart to use online faxing services as well. By sending and receiving all faxes online, you won’t have to scan the files in at a later time to retain digital copies. These files will already be electronic and will only have to be moved to the filing location.

Search: If you’re looking for a file, you can do a search on the drive where your files are located, which is a lot faster than flipping through manila folders looking for the right bit of info.

Shopping for insurance can be tricky, especially with the multitude of options available. Whether you need homeowner’s, renter’s, landlord or automobile insurance, doing your research is the key to selecting the appropriate insurance policy. You have to determine the value of the property you are insuring, consider the costs to replace property contents and factor in costs for lack of use of the property. If having your car in shop means you’ll need to secure a rental, those costs should be coinsidered in adding up your total loss.

Comprehensive Insurance Policies are typically policies with a broad focus. These cover all of the losses that could happen from weather, theft or unforeseen events. Comprehensive policies may combine several different types of insurance such as buildings, contents, landlord and liability into one package. This may help you save money with multiple policy discounts, and will also help you make sure that you have addressed every possible scenario. There is little that is worse than finding yourself without coverage for a specific event or situation after the fact when it is too late.

Insurance on real estate is a very important consideration when protecting your assets. You should always look for special offers when shopping for insurance, as finding the best rates can take some time and effort on your part. Don’t immediately assume that cheaper rates are a better deal, however. You need to fully compare the limits and allowable losses, along with rates and deductibles, in order to select the insurance carrier and policy that is right for you and your needs.

Communication is the most important key to effectively managing a business. It’s what makes sure your clients and customers are receiving the best service when jobs are getting completed in a timely manner.

Going from broke and living in his in-law’s home to running a multi-million-dollar business, Armando Montelongo knows a thing or two about running a successful business. There are several basic management guidelines that could help your team of employees effectively work together to get the job done.

Create Guidelines

It’s important to create rules that are specifically catered to your employees. If this is the first time a set of rules is being implanted, do a little brainstorming. Think about what rules would help the company or department run more successfully.

Hold Meetings

While most people don’t prefer to have updates often and would rather wait until the project is done, opt for holding meetings during the project for quick progress updates. If a project is going to run for six months, hold a meeting once a week for about an hour. This will give the team an idea where everyone is at in the project. If the clients request updates, do separate meetings with them once or twice a week depending on what the client prefers.

Spread Positivity

It’s always good to be positive. If you offer positive feedback, your employees will remain positive and motivated, which will reflect in their work. If they’re struggling, offer tips on how they can successfully complete their tasks. It’s important to offer advice without doing the job for them.

According to TheHill.com there is a general lack of trust for the president in this country. The president has done some unexpected things during his term and he’s not finished yet.

He’s been having meetings with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) where the results are kept secret from everyone else, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev).

When Reid asked White House Budget Director Jack Lew about the $3-trillion deficit cuts deal and why he wasn’t informed of it, Lew denied knowing anything about it, citing that the president and vice president didn’t know about it, either.

The Dems and Reid warned the Senate that they may be disinclined to vote for a deal if it’s made without the knowledge or participation of Reid and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (-Calif.). This looks fishy and Obama looks less and less trustworthy to some Americans.

Indirect Answers to Direct Questions

When cornered, Lew beat around the bush instead of giving prompt answers, and led the Democrats to believe there are covert talks going on. A slam came when a lawmaker listening to Lew’s statement said that Obama and Boehner can’t make an agreement that’ll pass the House if there‘s anyone else there.

Boehner told Fox News that there are far too many people in the room. Nothing can be agreed upon with so many people all giving their input.

It’s hard to say whether to trust the president. He’s changed more than any president to date, but his logic is, at times, unpopular. The path is not always direct to the intended result. All we can really do is try to decide for ourselves.

Businesses all over the world are always looking for cost saving techniques. The cost of running any business regardless of its larger small can be very high and business owners look for ways to save money yet operate on the same level. Here’s a look at some tips and tricks that other business owners have used to save money and still keep their business running.

Purchasing Items in Bulk

Many business owners have started to purchase their office supplies and other items in bulk from mass merchandising stores. It is almost guarantee that all offices will need to use office supplies and purchasing the items in bulk can save anywhere from 30 to 50%. The money that you save on purchasing these items in bulk can be used for other items in the office.

Cut Back On Excessive Spending

It is a good idea to take a step back and look at what you are really spending on your business. Chances are business owners can cut back on excessive spending. For example, many business owners have started to cut back on water delivery to their offices and purchased a filtration system. Other areas can include making sure the paper is recycled, and encouraging employees to share items instead of requiring each employee to have their own.

Using Technology To Your Advantage

Technology allows businesses to cut back on travel expenses. Businesses are using webinars, phone conferences and e-mail in an effort to cut back on the rising costs of travel expenses. Companies are also having satellite services such as direc.tv installed in their offices, to keep employees informed of current events.

Online trading usually refers to an investment online, usually through the stock market. Many people invest in the stock market so they have some sort of asset after retirement. If you’re considering investing in the stock market or any other type of online financial securities, here are a few things you may want to know.

1. Hiring a Broker Can Benefit You

Many people think they can jump into the stock market and do it themselves, but if you really want to make a profit, you should hire a broker to begin with. A stock broker will help you get started by giving you tips and aiding in your comprehension of the stock market. They can benefit you in the future by helping you understand how to work your investment so you make a higher profit.

2. Transactions Can Take Several Days

Because transactions can take several days, you may be confused as to how much money you really have. You could buy several stocks at once without realizing you’ve spent all of your money. If you do happen to spend the majority of your money, you may want to look into borrowing money, such as using short term loans, in order to make more investments.

3. There May Be Fees Attached

You may not realize it, but every transaction may cost you. You should consider this whenever you make a transaction so you know how much profit you’re really making. Usually these fees are a minimal amount compared to the money you make, but if you have any questions you can talk to your broker.

When a group of people work together in a professional team, conflict is bound to happen. Too much of conflict among employees can result in creating a negative atmosphere at the work place. When such a conflict arises in a team, it becomes the responsibility of the managers to sort things out without being harsh or unfair to anyone. Effective communication is the most sought tool that managers use to manage conflicts between their employees:

Don’t simply draw conclusions. Gather information about the entire situation from the people involved in the conflict and also from the people who has some insight on it.

Don’t take the problem for granted. Try to act as soon as possible towards resolving the conflict. Talk privately to each party and then decide on points that you can use for conflict resolution. You can then call all the parties together for a face-to-face discussion where you can work as a mediator clarifying doubts and putting positive points ahead.

Do not blame any employee in front of others. Give ideas and suggestions and try to answer all questions with patience. If you have already given them a chance to collaborate on a solution, which they were not able to, give them a final solution which they are bound to agree on.

If you find it difficult to come to a feasible solution, consider talking to your peers or seniors regarding a solution. Don’t simply interfere in every discussion of your team. Some problems can be solved by the employees themselves. If you see any such possibility, give them a chance before stepping in.

Lastly, meet the employees again to ensure that the conflict has been resolved.

Marc Jacobs is an American fashion designer who has had a big career in the fashion industry including being named one of the top 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine in 2010.

Early Life

Marc Jacobs was born in 1963 and grew up in New Jersey and New York. He attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City. He then went on to Parsons School of Design after high school, a prestigious college located in Greenwich Village.

The Fashion Industry

In 1986, Jacobs started his own line of clothes under the Marc Jacobs label. During this time, he also worked at Perry Ellis where he designed a line of grunge clothes, which earned him the “Women’s Designer of the Year Award” from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Could it be that it was lines such as this that inspired brands such as LRG Clothing that focus on hip hop style? It’s hard to say, but Jacobs’ designs have definitely been influential.

In 1997, Jacobs became creative director for Louis Vuitton. While in this post, he helped the company produce its first ready-to-wear line. He’s still Louis Vuitton’s creative director at present (over 13 years later). Marc Jacobs currently has three lines of clothing through his own name: Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Little Marc Jacobs. The last is a line of children’s clothing.

Overall, it’s safe to say that Marc Jacobs has been influential on American fashion. He’s created many different lines of clothing, some harking back to earlier fashion periods including the 1940s and 1980s, but always reinventing fashion.

Your business needs to stay on top of its policies regarding discrimination and harassment. This means ensuring that the handbook is up to date and employees are aware of the internal policies. Employees should be informed of the local and federal laws that handle these issues, as well. Not keeping up with the policies can turn into trouble down the line. Don’t avoid the issue for fear of too much information will cause employees to find excuses to use the law.

One federal law that causes much grief to employees and employers is the Family Medical Leave Act. It is a complex act that requires a thorough understanding. But the employer cannot ignore this act whatsoever. For example, a pregnant employee who has every intention of returning to her duties can not be fired. Firing her is considered pregnancy harassment. Pregnancy harassment Los Angeles laws are the same as they are in New York City. If the employer does fire the employee, she is well within her rights to turn around and sue.

Your business can avoid any such unpleasantness by ensuring that standards are maintained. Keep all levels of management up to date as well as the employees. This prevents the managers from firing someone under the guise of ignorance of the law. Ignorance is no defense in a court of law, and it will wind up costing the business a lot of money. Being proactive creates a pleasant working environment while keeping everyone honest.

There has been a lot of talk lately about the market’s recovery, but the economy is still nowhere near what it was in the 1990′s. The economic recession has left many people and businesses hurting; however, there is another side to the recession that leads many entrepreneurs to success.

In 1929, America entered the Great Depression, along with most of Europe, which lasted through most of the 1930′s. This time period was very painful for businesses and many businesses had to close their doors for good. This is what everyone knows about the Great Depression, but there were also successful businesses during the 1930′s. For example, Kellogg’s became very popular during this time, more so than their rival company C.W. Post, and that popularity has continued into the 21st Century.

How did Kellogg’s gain so much during one of the worst times in America’s financial history? They continued investing in advertising. Many companies cut out some of their advertising budget during painful economic times, but Kellogg’s actually increased their advertising during this time. This led more people to feel like Kellogg’s was a secure company, whereas other companies seemed to drop off the map as their advertising disappeared.

The same attitude toward advertising has made many companies very wealthy during this recent recession. Many companies and businesses have had to close, and if you look you will find that most of them tried to save money by cutting off their advertising budget. Advertising can be an expensive investment for a company, but it is among the most valuable assets any business can have.

Many people are looking to diversify their income and are looking at trading online as a way to make money. Trading online is a great and easy way that you can make more money for your family. However, there are several things that you need to know before you start flinging money around trading sites.

One of the biggest mistakes that you can make is to start trading without being knowledgeable about the market. Many people think that using an online trading broker is just a waste of money. They think that paying someone to do something that they can do easily is not a good investment. However, if you are unaware about how the market works then you need to make sure that you are working with someone who knows a great deal. It is likely that you will make more money when utilizing an online trading broker than if you are just working alone.

Also, never start trading before you have decided on a budget. It is important that you are only investing what you feel comfortable losing. It is a fact that you will not become a millionaire overnight so make sure that you are managing your finances so that you can keep playing the market until you are able to make money.

Lastly, never start trading on a site that you are not familiar with. It is wise to speak with business associates and fellow employees to see if they are involved in online trading. If they are, you can probably trust the sites that they recommend. These people might even be able to offer advice.

The world of finance grows every day and there are a lot of burgeoning opportunities for you if you play your cards right. Here are a few jobs you might be interested in. Know that most of them are easier with a college degree but that they are all attainable and profitable to you if you choose to pursue them.

The first job is that of financial systems analyst. The job can be done for a lot of different companies and it involves studying different aspects of a company, such as the payroll or their long term profitability. Your job, in a nutshell, is to make the company more efficient by seeing where the problems and pitfalls are from a company level. These jobs pay well and offer full benefits. They can be demanding but if this is your cup of tea then you won’t mind the extra wok.

A day trader is a self employed career and one that offers and endless salary but that could also present a significant number of risks. Your job is to buy and sell stocks all day at a profit. Of course your job is largely dependent on the market so there is not much stability and it does require that you know what you are doing. However, if you play your cards right you can have more than enough money to avoid needing to take out a payday loan.

Both of these careers are at different ends of the spectrum but can bring a lot of positives. You just need to know what’s right for you.

Do not make the mistake of thinking that an individual remains your employee only when he or she is in office. You pay wages for the time that is spent in office but the individual is recognized as your employee as long as he or she is in employment. Why should you and your business bother about the personal life of the employee?

Well, how would your customers react if they discovered that a few employees of the organization were arrested for possession of illegal drugs? On one side, you can argue that the fact that the individual possessed drugs out of office has absolutely no bearing on the goodwill of the reorganization.

On the other hand, you cannot stop your customers from imagining that such practices were considered acceptable in your office as well. You may not have explicitly approved such behavior but you may be held guilty for not having done enough to prevent your employees from falling into the wrong path.

Whether you like it or not, the outside world will hold you responsible for certain actions of your employees. The responsibility may not be financial but it certainly will affect your goodwill. In such a scenario, it is advisable for the HR department to keep track of these activities as well.

Does this mean you should spy on employees? Obviously not. However, sudden changes in behavior and irrational mood swings in an individual without any personal or domestic problem surely indicates that something is not right.

As an organization, be very strict when dealing with such behavior and ensure that you are not seen as being soft on such activities.

Do you ever watch television and end up with catchy jingle from a commercial stuck in your head for the rest of the day? This is an example of successful marketing. A company created a nice tune with an appealing rhythm and some rhyming words, and now they’ve got potential customers thinking about them all day long. Have you ever thought about what makes a jingle so memorable?

The first characteristic of a memorable jingle is that it should either touch your heart or your funny bone. Some campaigns may do both, like the Kars 4 Kids television and radio commercials. And the jingle must be unconventional in order to grab people’s attentions. Finally, it must be done in a tune that is upbeat and easily rolls off the tongue. A fresh and hip jingle with viral appeal will meet all these characteristics while creating a positive image in consumer’s minds.

Today, catchy jingles like the Kars 4 Kids commercials are still filling the airwaves, just like the commercials of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The most memorable jingles that still echo in consumer’s minds today include:

The Oscar Meyer Weiner song

The Oscar Meyer Bologna song

Rolaids’ “Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz”

McDonald’s “Big Mac Fillet ‘O Fish Quarter Pounder French Fries”

The Slinky song

Johnson & Johnson’s “I Am Stuck On Band-Aid”

When you find yourself singing along to a jingle you are hearing on the TV or radio, you know you’ve stumbled upon a great tune and a successful advertising campaign. A memorable jingle is one with catchy melodies and lyrics that sticks with you over time.

Workplace conflict is never in the best interest of the employees or the company. Because a company is made up of a diverse group of personalities, some level of conflict is inevitable. But there are some causes of employee conflict that a proactive management team can minimize by developing effective policies and using good managerial techniques.

1) Role Responsibility

Aggressive employees tend to want to take on more responsibility than you are willing to give them. Over time, an employee who acts like a manager can cause conflict with other employees. By clearly defining employee roles and reducing confusion, you can prevent those aggressive employees from taking on responsibilities that are not theirs.

2) Jealousy

Some members of your staff may begin to feel as though a select group is getting all of the breaks. This can create a very volatile situation and breed conflict. Treat all employees fairly, and delegate responsibility to employees based on their skill set. Find those things that each employee is good at, and utilize those talents to prevent staff jealousy.

3) Discipline

Employees respect a company that establishes discipline policies, and then applies those policies evenly to all staff members. Make sure that employee discipline is treated as a very serious subject and that all matters are dealt with according to existing policies. A fair hand in distributing discipline will help to reduce employee conflict.

In order to maintain company productivity, it is necessary to reduce employee conflict. By becoming involved in staff activities and being proactive managers, your management team can help to keep employees focused on work and avoid conflict.

Whether you’re a business looking to get into interesting markets, or an individual looking for an entrepreneurial market to invest funds, real estate investing is a great way to build wealth. Of course, it is also an industry that can be tricky to navigate. However, with these three questions you will be better able to gauge prospects when approaching real estate investing.

1. What kind of real estate investing is appropriate?

Are you interested in starting an apartment complex, renovating homes and selling them, or something else? Anything from your local apartment complex to a vacation home halfway across the world is within the scope of real estate investing.

Thus, some direction will need to be identified in order to get started. Consider some of your options in order to focus your attention on one area in relationship to real estate investing.

2. What is the company’s cash flow situation?

There will be distinct differences in your strategy depending on cash flow, whether you are a small or large business, or a personal investor. For instance, if cash flow isn’t that much of a problem, you may be more inclined to engage in money down types of strategies in your investing.

3. What will you do with the property?

No matter what you invest in, you will need a plan to follow up. Consider a property management company to run the property.

Businesses such as these can be instrumental in allowing you the freedom to concentrate on other properties or aspects of your business.

The motive of enacting various laws relating to employee relations was to ensure that employee’s rights were protected and the relationship between employer and employee was based on an equal and mutually beneficial footing. However, most employees treat these laws as an option to get more wages for less work.

On the other hand, employers behave as if employee laws are designed to trouble them and harass them. Well, why don’t you try and change this question? Why don’t you encourage your employees to research various laws relating to their employment and help you comply with the same?

Noncompliance may lead to litigation but that is not beneficial for both parties. The employee may get a good compensation but it will come out of the profits of the firm. This will affect the future financial viability. On the other hand, the employer will face litigation problems and suffer a loss of goodwill.

Set up a committee consisting of a few knowledgeable employees to research and interpret the various laws that relate to your organization. You can even encourage your employees to come up with certain changes to outdated laws so that it can be modified and implemented in a better manner in the organization. Of course, such modified interpretations will not have any legal standing.

However, going a step forward will help you interact with your employees better. The fact that the employees themselves have a say in the application and implementation of laws will help you boost morale as well. Try to make sincere changes to the way organization is run to get more assistance from your employees.

The only sure method of gaining customer feedback is by engaging them directly. That is where the customer satisfaction survey comes in; it helps to gauge how often an issue arises, such as a long waiting time when customers call in. You can gain an understanding of what is working well, and see where improvements can be made. The survey results can help establish a game plan for addressing things that need to be fixed.

A customer satisfaction survey will allow more people to respond to issues than just waiting for dissatisfied customers to get back to you. Beneficial improvements are made through an analysis of different areas, which you can address by adding specific questions to the survey. The sale is just one step; it is also important to encourage continuous feedback to make the customer feel like you are always working to improve customer service. This makes customer loyalty a more likely scenario than otherwise.

There are several ways to implement a survey, but online surveys are the easiest because customers don’t have to step away from their computer to provide answers. Forums are a good idea as well, as company representatives and customers alike can interact. A continuous discussion can even arise, as each buyer might talk about the survey questions in more detail.

Various methods are available to gauge customer service without it impacting your budget. A customer satisfaction survey with the right questions, analysis, and target audience can build client and customer relationships. This, combined with more efficient business operations that result by addressing these concerns, can increase the likelihood of growth for the company.

Motivated employees are productive employees, and it does not take a significant effort for managers to create a productive workplace atmosphere. Managers who understand the subtle approaches that create happy employees find their departmental productivity skyrocketing. Remember that it takes much more than just money to keep employees happy and productive.

1) Respect

Respecting your employees means listening when they are speaking to you, helping them when they ask you to and being available when they have a question. It is not difficult to show employees respect, but the end result can be a very happy staff.

2) Goals

Employees find it easier to achieve success in the office when they have clearly defined goals to achieve. The goals you set for employees should include daily and weekly goals, along with long-term objectives to help develop staff members’ careers. Review employee goals with each staff member individually on a regular basis to make sure the employees are on the right path.

3) Honesty

One of the quickest ways to de-motivate your entire staff is to lie to them. When a manager is honest with his employees, the employees develop confidence in the manager. It helps the staff to feel that the manager is on their side and that he is looking out for their best interests.

Getting employees to perform at peak levels involves developing good managerial habits. Money can be a motivator in the short term, but if you are looking for long-term ways to motivate your staff, then you need to employ methods that create a productive and satisfying work environment.

As a business owner, you juggle tasks on a regular basis. Whether refining the budget planning or sharpening your employee relationships, you are committed to realizing your business goals. Filing your taxes is yet another facet of your to-do list. Here’s how to get those forms filled and sent before the deadline.

Organization is the key to helping your tax filing run smoother. By keeping track of your business expenditures with receipts and documentation, you can be sure and have the information ready when needed. Each breakfast purchased for an early staff meeting or lunch with a client counts towards your overall business tax deductions. By keeping a record of your purchases and budgeting spending with your computer, you can be assured that the information is kept in a safe and organized manner. Be sure and find out when you are required to file your tax documents. Some companies are required to file quarterly. Check with your accountant or the IRS website for the proper filing procedures expected of your business. If you do not have a professional accountant to help prepare your documents, find out which form you are to submit on the site as well. An accountant will help to include any deductions you may overlook while filling out the form.

After you determine the proper forms to file and find out the deadlines for doing so, the fastest way to file is electronically. Forms can be downloaded and filled out on the IRS website for your convenience. E-filing cuts down on the time it would take to mail forms in, and helps you make your deadline.

A personal budget can be a very powerful financial tool that will help you balance your checkbook, pay your bills on time, save money for the future and pay down existing debt. Many people avoid creating a personal budget because they do not understand the elements that go into making a budget effective. Once you know what goes into creating a budget, the rest of the process becomes easier.

1) Income

When you include your income in a personal budget, you need to include all of your income. When it comes to creating a spending and savings plan, there is no such thing as your own stash of money. You can create ways to save money for future purchases and emergencies, but include all sources of income in your budget.

2) Bills

A budget is a dynamic tool that changes from month to month. When you get ready to put your budget together for the upcoming month, include all of your bills. This includes one-time bills such as those flowers you sent to your wife last month or the book club you joined. Include every bill so that all of your money can be accounted for.

3) Expenses

This is where many personal budgets go wrong. You need to include all of your expenses and develop budget numbers for those expenses as well. Food, gasoline, money into savings, home repairs, auto repairs and entertainment money should all be given budget numbers every month and you should stay within those numbers no matter what.

Use a personal budget to help you get your finances together and build your savings account.

As the leader of a company, or as a manager, your employees are a vital aspect of determining your success. In order for you to be successful, your employees must be motivated and succeeding in their own positions. One way of instilling motivation within your employees is to keep up with general employee relations, ensuring that they have pride in what they are doing and helping them feel that they are being noticed for their hard work. Unfortunately, many companies do not place an emphasis on employee relations, resulting in lowered productivity and growth.

Fortunately, there are effective ways to help improve employee relations. Providing your staff with various benefits can give them a sense of belonging and reinforce their work ethic. Some of these benefits are seemingly small, but they have a rather large impact.

Provide Business Cards

Providing your staff with business cards is a fantastic way to promote a sense of belonging among employees. Additionally, business cards are an extremely effective way to market the company as well as individual services and specializations performed by staff members in the company’s name.

Improve Communication

Open up the floor for employees that have ideas on how to improve productivity to voice their opinions to management. This will give staff a sense of having a level of importance and equality within the company that is not bound by their particular position.

Positive Reinforcement

Rewarding or taking notice of employees who have a stellar work ethic is an effective way to reinforce their motivation to work hard. Something as simple as a few words of praise from a superior is enough to enact a sense of accomplishment.

Writing a mission statement is improtant for any business whether a large multi national or a small start up business. It’s a statement reflective of your company service, products or goals.

What does a mission statement look like?  Well here are a couple of examples;

Mission Statement: Profitable growth through superior customer service, innovation, quality and commitment.

Mission Statement: To be the best in the eyes of our customers, employees and shareholders

Image via Wikipedia

If you don’t have a mission statement for your company then get the whole team involved, hold wokshops, meetings, competitions and brainstorming sessions. Employees love to be heard and they love to be rewarded, not just through salary but through recognition and feeling valued. If the team have input into updating a new mission statement or creating a new one you will have a greater chance of success and an even greater chance of positive staff engagement.

We all like to know where we are going and why we are doing something. This is particularly true in our jobs. Once we have clarity we get passionate about the task, enjoying it, and wanting to complete it. Its the same with a mission statement, you want and need all of your staff to be working towards one common goal, if they aren’t and there is confusion about the direction of the business you will not succeed.

A mission statement also communicates to your customers why they should choose you and what you are doing within the industry. So get brainstorming and come up with a strong, clear message for your business.

Making the transition to the new ICD-10 coding system is crucial to your healthcare organization. The compliance deadline for these new codes is October 1, 2013 so you’ll need to have your entire staff up and running and knowledgeable about the codes by then.

ICD is the abbreviation for the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems–a coding system set down by the World Health Organization for use with patient medical records. These codes are used to classify diseases as well as symptoms, abnormal findings, external injury causes and more. ICD codes are used to promote a system that is universal so that patient care can be understandable and consistent around the world.

Your entire staff—everyone from clinicians and physicians to administrators and IT personnel — needs to be trained in implementing the new ICD 10 codes in order to keep your healthcare business performing at optimal levels.

You may want to consider hiring a professional consultant to help with this transition. This consultant can help you with tasks such as assessing how the transition will impact the systems that you currently use. Current office policies and procedures will also be examined. This person can also review your staff’s current knowledge level and provide input on how to make the transition easier for them.

The consulting professional can also help you map out a functional plan that provides you with the best plan to use to implement the new system. This plan can include prerequisites, tasks, milestones and personnel responsibilities. Having a consultant on board will insure that your transition to the new codes will also meet all compliance and regulatory requirements.

It is not uncommon for employees to feel as if there is a major gap in the employee and employer relationship. Many employees feel as if the employer does not care about their plays or feels As if the employees are beneath him or her. This type of attitude can often foster hard feelings between the employer and employee and cause the company to not be as successful as it should. This is why many employers need to learn how to improve employee and employer relationships. Here’s a look at some ways that employers have been successful in improving the relationship with their employees.

Incentives

Many employers have found that offering incentives to employees make them feel as if the employer cares about them. Incentives can range from winning a free trip to having lunch treat by the employer. These incentives often help the employee feel motivated to work harder for the company.

Interacting with Employees

One of the biggest complaints employees have about their players is that there is a lack of interaction which causes them to feel as if the employer could care less about the employees. As an employer you should be out in interacting with your employees as often as possible as this will make you appear to be a part of the team and will help employees feel closer to you.

Plan Team Building Events

Teambuilding events are great ways to foster relationships in the workplace. Consider engaging in teambuilding workshops to help the relationship in the office.

Managing money is an important part of business, and while most entrepreneurs will be well versed in their chosen field, it does not necessarily follow that they will be good with money matters. Businesses with a disorganized approach to finances can find themselves facing a plethora of problems from cash flow crises to tax transgressions. It is imperative that all bosses who are not confident in managing their own accounts seek the services of a reputable financial accountant.

Choosing an Accountant

Of course, it is important that business bosses find a financial accountant who they can trust. There are a number of criteria that should be taken into account when seeking a professional of this kind, including recommendations, qualifications and specializations. To begin their search, business owners may wish to consult a directory, such as canada 411, to find a list of relevant operators in their area.

What Can an Accountant Do for a Business?

A financial accountant’s involvement in the running of a business can be as hands on or hands off as a customer requires. Accountants are able to advise on all manner of fiduciary matters, from payroll preparation to the minimization of loss to taxation. Bosses can call on a financial accountant to steer their interests in the right direction, or they may wish to rely on the accountant entirely to keep abreast of the company’s cash and credit.

Having an accountant on board in whatever capacity can help to take the stress and strain out of dealing with company finances and reduce the risk of a business falling foul of cash management issues.

The first step to creating a proper business budget and financial plan is to create a business checking account. Virtually every single bank in the United States allows businesses to open up a separate checking account but this is specifically for business only. While it might seem like it is an unnecessary step to creating an official business, a business checking account is an essential item in today’s business world. Here is a look at some of the benefits of having a separate business account.

Separate Paper Trails

A separate business account allows you to have a paper trail that is specifically for your business. This makes it very easy come tax time as all expenses are only with this bank account and all the business owner needs to do is pull the records for the account to be able to input the numbers.

Keeping Track of Employee Spending

When a business has a separate bank account and allows the business owner to be able to keep track of employee spending easier. Employees are encouraged to use the company car which will keep track of all business expenses in one place and allow the owner to virtually see where all expenses are going.

Ease of Use

All business bank accounts come with debit or credit cards. These items make it very easy for business owners and employees to purchase items and conduct business as there is no need to keep petty cash on hand.

Many people set up a small business in order to make a living in today’s world. The problem is most small business owners do not make a plan for how they are going to take money out of their business. These people were traditionally just borrow money here and there for the business and not really keep track of it which can create a problem for the business financially and the business owner personally.

Small business owners have two options when it comes to figuring out how they should take money out of their business. Here is a look at the two options that they have and some of the benefits that might come with each option.

A Salary Employee

Small business owners can have their business set themselves up as if they are an employee with a salary. This means they take out a chunk of change, as if there are traditional play with the business. This type of set up requires that the business owner file a W-2 and have all taxes withheld. Many small business owners find it easier as it does not require them to have to figure out taxes later on in the year.

A Consultant

Small business owners can be listed as a consultant for the company. Consultants are paid on a per job basis and can determine their wages. However, the downside is that taxes are not taken out and the owner must pay on the money they receive.

Running a business is difficult, with so many challenges in the road. With so many of these possible mistakes, slipping up seems inevitable. Here are some examples; don’t do the following:

Not learning the ropes: It’s important to earn a degree online or pursue other methods of learning the industry before you jump in.

Excessive layoffs: Each employee is an investment not only of money but also of time. Firing one means starting from scratch. Firing many means starting from scratch without an established support structure, this is inviting disaster.

No marketing: Your product is worthless if no one knows about it. The only way to get any attention at all is to market yourself actively. All the quality in the world won’t do you any good if you keep it under a hat.

Change suppliers: It’s tempting to switch to a cheaper alternative whenever you have a chance, but a supplier constitutes an established relationship that is worth more than the dollar value of the supplies. If you give up that mutual knowledge, it could cost you far more than you save.

Slash prices: Everyone likes a huge discount, unless you’re the one whose profit margin is sacrificed. It may be tempting to slash prices to compete better, but if you slash too much, you may have nothing left with which to thrive or even survive.

Mistakes like these can kill your business before it even gets rolling. Remember that business is an investment, which means you must be patient through the difficult times. Do not act recklessly. Keep a cool head, and profit for it.
