According to TheHill.com there is a general lack of trust for the president in this country. The president has done some unexpected things during his term and he’s not finished yet.
He’s been having meetings with Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) where the results are kept secret from everyone else, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev).
When Reid asked White House Budget Director Jack Lew about the $3-trillion deficit cuts deal and why he wasn’t informed of it, Lew denied knowing anything about it, citing that the president and vice president didn’t know about it, either.
The Dems and Reid warned the Senate that they may be disinclined to vote for a deal if it’s made without the knowledge or participation of Reid and Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (-Calif.). This looks fishy and Obama looks less and less trustworthy to some Americans.
Indirect Answers to Direct Questions
When cornered, Lew beat around the bush instead of giving prompt answers, and led the Democrats to believe there are covert talks going on. A slam came when a lawmaker listening to Lew’s statement said that Obama and Boehner can’t make an agreement that’ll pass the House if there‘s anyone else there.
Boehner told Fox News that there are far too many people in the room. Nothing can be agreed upon with so many people all giving their input.
It’s hard to say whether to trust the president. He’s changed more than any president to date, but his logic is, at times, unpopular. The path is not always direct to the intended result. All we can really do is try to decide for ourselves.
